Kotor, 26th of June 2023: Award-winning Gin 1689, launches in the Balkans through an exclusive distribution partnership with SSG Balkans covering Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia, Macedonia and Bosnia!
SSG Balkans is one of the leading distributors of premium spirits & beverages in the Balkans and its portfolio represents a rich selection of high-quality alcoholic beverages & world brands.
Leszek Karpowicz, CEO of SSG Balkans, highlights: “The Balkans are very fast-growing gin countries and there is an increasing demand of premium craft gins.” Leszek continues; “I have seen Gin 1689 in many cocktail bars and international hotels across Europe and we are very exciting to bringing Gin 1689 to the Balkans!”
Following in the footsteps of markets including UK, South-Korea, Germany, Poland, Spain, Hungary, Slovenia, Nordics and the Czech Republic, the Balkans are the next markets to launch the Amsterdam-based Gin 1689.
Sharing his news, founder Alexander Janssens of Gin 1689, states “Launching in the Balkans is an important milestone for us, and we are on course to have distribution deals in place in over 25 countries by the end of this year”
Janssens continues; “International expansion is important for us as we would like to give as many consumers as possible the opportunity to try our authentic gin!”
The gin boom has finally reached the Balkans and for example Serbia is expected to grow annually by more than 7.0% (CAGR 2023-2027) driven by the trend of consumers drinking more premium gin at home and the rise of cocktail bars, especially in Belgrade.
Where the gin growth in Serbia is mainly driven by the local populations, Montenegro’s growth is driven by the increase of (high-end) tourists (including the Beckham's) flocking to this beautiful country. With new resorts including the super luxurious One & Only Resort (the only one in Europe), Tivat with the largest super yacht harbour at the Mediterranean Sea and Sveti Stefan where Robert de Niro recently opened his own restaurant, it’s no surprise the demand for super premium gins is very high.
Gin 1689 is based on a three-century old original recipe and beautifully combines juniper berries, apple, quince, dried lemon & orange peel, clove, nutmeg and aniseed.
About Gin 1689:
Amsterdam’s Gin 1689 is based on a three-century-old gin recipe dating back to the time when William of Orange the Third, introduced gin to the British population and the gin craze started. Since its launch, Gin 1689 has won many accolades with the highlight being Gold, in the premium category; at the Gin Masters in London.
In 2019 Gin 1689 launched the first Dutch Pink gin and received great coverage on the BBC and in UK National Newspapers including The Telegraph.
